Kids Camp and YIM Tour Report

Posted by Lauren Shirley on

Our kids and youth had a blast the week of June 16. Our kids spent the week at Camp Copass, playing hard and learning about what "Happened at Night" in the Bible. The Youth In Ministry team went to San Antonio to serve local ministries.

At First Kids' Camp, we learned from our Bible teachings what it means to have
...a forgiving heart
...a servant heart
...a willing heart and
...a changed heart.

Of the 23 kids that attended camp, three made first time decisions to follow Jesus and several recommitted their lives to the Lord. They also had a blast with swimming, games, ropes courses, and Bible bowl.

The youth had a chance to minister in several different locations in San Antonio. They spend Monday afternoon playing with homeless kids in a temporary housing shelter. On Tuesday, they worked with Daily Bread, a food pantry that receives donations from area stores and partners with 130 local churches to distribute food in their neighborhoods. The youth packed 2000 pounds of beans, 3300 pounds of pasta, and 8000 pounds of frozen corn to be distributed. They also helped move pallets and sort clothes for the ministry. The youth ministered to children and adults with physical and mental disabilities at Mission Road Developmental Center on Wednesday. They did some manual labor for Rev Ministries, by clearing shrubs and rocks out of a courtyard to create a prayer garden and painting rooms. Their focus for the week was Matthew 25:34-40, and they got to live out each of the ministries listed as they served the city of San Antonio and worshiped Jesus in a practical way.

“Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?  When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’"
