An Important Update for Disaffiliation

Published December 6, 2022 by First Methodist Carrollton in

Since our last update (originally sent as an email) on November 17, a couple of key events have occured.

First off, on November 29, our church council approved a motion to set a date for a church-wide vote to disaffiliate from the United Methodist denomination. The date is still being confirmed with our District Superintendent, and we expect it will be towards the end of January (barring any scheduling conflicts on her end).

Secondly, we held our first event exploring where we could move after we disaffiliate on Sunday, December 4. You can view the event here—the video and his powerpoint are linked. This is part one of a series where we explore which other of the Wesleyan traditions most closely aligns to who we are and what we believe as a church.

A reminder, the next meeting will be held December 11 at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Our presenting speaker, Dr. Leah Hidde-Gregory, will be covering the Global Methodist Church. Click here to submit any questions you have ahead of time.
