Rev. Dr. Larry Duggins, one of the pastors at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, will be here to share that church’s experience in voting with great unity to leave the UMC. He will also share about the Methodist Collegiate Association (a new Methodist Churches organization for those who have left the UMC).

About Rev. Dr. Larry Duggins

Rev. Dr. Larry Duggins is the Executive Pastor for Ecclesial Affairs at White’s Chapel Methodist Church in Southlake TX. In that role, he has worked with clergy and lay leadership to envision a new centrist expression of Methodism, the Methodist Collegiate Church. He is responsible for coordinating the drafting process for the new denomination’s Transitional Book of Discipline.

Dr. Duggins is also the Executive Director of the Missional Wisdom Foundation, a non-profit organization that experiments with and teaches about alternative forms of Christian Community.  The MWF is centered in a life of contemplation and lived out within a community of experimentation and education. Dr. Duggins is the author of three books and multiple articles on Christian community and Christian vocation.  He leads pilgrimage regularly, including 17 groups to the Scottish Island of Iona.

Dr. Duggins first career was in the field of the investment management of high yield commercial mortgage backed securities. He was the founder, President and Chief Operating Officer of ARCap REIT Inc., an Irving-based company recognized by the Dallas Business Journal as one of the 5 Best Places to Work in DFW in 2005.

Dr. Duggins holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Finance, all from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in Missional Church from the Perkins School of Theology at SMU. He is an ordained Elder in Full Connection in the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
