Today is a difficult day for Christians; it simply agonizes us to accept the idea that the horrendous suffering and death of Jesus was necessary because of me… The only way for my sins to be forgiven was for Jesus to die, for me… Though we want to turn away, though we want to ignore its reality and just skip to Easter, we know that we must not… We must gaze at that cross, read again that story, watch again a movie of the trial, torture and crucifixion of Jesus. Words are not adequate to express the sorrow that we bear and share on the day of remembrance… You are in my prayers…
