Friday ended with the burial of the body of Jesus in a tomb, hastily because the Sabbath was about to begin. Some women followers saw where Jesus was laid in a tomb; they prepared spices and perfumes to anoint His body, but they would have to wait until the Sabbath was over. The other disciples had all scattered… Luke is the only Gospel writer to write that the women obeyed the commandant to rest on the Sabbath.
Maybe they all observed the Sabbath, or maybe they didn’t…who knows? They were frightened, bewildered, confused… THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE… They were brokenhearted…and aren’t we all?
