Cindy Palmer, Associate Pastor
Hi, I’m Cindy and I’m stating the obvious—it’s time for school to start. It’s a great time of excitement as teachers and students begin anew. But it can be an anxious time as students are in a new environment, with new people to meet, new surroundings. Parents often have mixed emotions as their kids have their first day of elementary, middle school, or high school. Parents sending their kids to kindergarten struggle with emotions, as do those sending their kids to college.
Often we have to mark school supplies, sweaters, and coats, as our kids go off to school. I also remember doing this for my mother in her later years. When she went into an assisted living facility, I was writing her name on towel tags and clothing, so her things wouldn’t get lost when they did laundry. It was a bittersweet time, knowing the cycle of her life would soon be over on this earth.
Here’s the thing: God knows your name. He knows when we lie down, and when we get up. He knows what we are experiencing. He is our creator, redeemer, sustainer. He is Emmanuel, God with us.
As God is with us, He is also with our children as we send them to preschool. He is with our teenagers as they begin college or trade schools. He is with our parents as they navigate their lives.
Whatever season you may be in, God is with you, and He knows your name.
