I am really excited about being a participant in our 2014 Missions Week activities! One of the many qualities about the people of First Church that I have quickly learned to admire is their commitment to the mission of Jesus in spreading the Gospel, both in word and in loving acts of service. To have the opportunity to be some small part of what God is doing through this congregation to touch the lives of people around God’s world is a special privilege.
The opportunities that are available to assist us in understanding the task of missions in the world will be offered in different ways during the week of Sunday, February 16 through Sunday evening, February 23. You will be hearing and reading about these opportunities regularly, so I hope that you will clear your calendar for these opportunities to hear what God is doing around the world and even right in our own back yard!
After we hear about what God is up to, we will also get to visit with several of the missionaries we support and learn how we can be part of the future work to which God has called them. Please be in prayer for their safe travel and for our hearts to receive the stories about God’s work that they are doing in their settings.
I am sure that they will bless us and I am praying that we can be a blessing and encouragement to each of them as a result of our week together.
