School is back, football season has kicked off, and that means our Wednesday night ministries are back! Last week at our Wednesday Kick-off, we had so many here for Dinos, Dogs and Snow that we had to set up extra tables and chairs to handle the crowd. It was so much fun!

September is going to be an important month for FMC. All our Wednesday activities for children, youth and adults start September 7. Many things are happening, but I want to emphasize two opportunities that I believe are life-changing:

  • Emotionally Healthy Spirituality — Begins Sunday, September 11 at 5:00 p.m. I will be teaching for eight weeks on deepening a healthy spiritual walk with Christ.
  • Emotionally Healthy Relationships — Begins September 14 at 6:30 p.m. Jon and Denise Beckman are teaching this eight-week course on how our walk with Christ affects the way we live.

Also in September,

  • “Bring a tithe Sunday” is September 18. This Sunday, we challenge our congregation to a day of generosity by giving at least 10% of our weekly income. I truly believe that God honors our generosity. As God says through the prophet Malachi, “Bring the full tithe… thus put me to the test… see if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing blessing.” (Malachi 3:10)
  • Don’t forget to sign up for one of the September home meetings as we discuss our church’s future. I am praying everyone can attend one of these meetings. Even though we have asked Adult Sunday school classes to host these meetings, they are open to all. Click here to sign up for a meeting.

Great things are happening. One example is the people who are joining our church. So far this year, we have added more new members than the entirety of last year. Every week, someone contacts me to discuss their faith and how to take the next step. These are exciting days at First Methodist Carrollton.

See you this Sunday as we celebrate Holy Communion, hear a word from Pastor Cindy and glorify God through our faith in Christ.
