The Bible reminds us that if we love God, we should also love our brothers and sisters who are in need. (I John 3:17, 4:19-21). The Benevolence fund is an assistance ministry to people who are needing financial help. Trained members interview those people who are requesting support. A personal appointment addresses the person’s needs spiritually and physically. Needs are evaluated and a ONE time gift is provided as needed.
DON’T CHANGE THE WAY YOU SHOP, JUST THE WAY YOU PAY!
Each month you can order gift cards, and the Benevolence fund will receive a percentage of each gift card you purchase. It won’t cost you any more than normal to shop with these cards, but it will help offer assistance to those in our community in need.
Orders will be taken on the first Sunday of each month. Gift cards will be ready for pick-up on the second Sunday of each month. You may also order online! This is a great way to benefit your church when buying those gift cards for teachers, nieces, nephews, kids, grandkids, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, gift exchanges, co-workers, etc.
Examples of the vendors available are: Albertson’s, Tom Thumb, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Kohl’s, Old Navy, Starbucks, JC Penny, Wal-Mart, Container Store, AMC Theater, Blockbuster, Office Depot, Office Max, iTunes, Gap, Toys R Us, Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Michael’s, Cracker Barrel, CVS, Walgreens, Sam’s Club, Visa gift cards, even Disney. Our list has over 100 vendors available. (And if you don’t see one you are interested, just ask, we may be able to add it).
AGAIN – don’t change the way you shop, just the way you pay!
Two ways to order:
1) Paper Order Forms are available at Information Booth, in church office or you can download a form here. Fill out the form and submit with payment to the table in the foyer on first Sundays or to the church office before the first Sunday of each month.
2) Online: To insure accuracy of your order and for access to complete vendor list, order online at http://www.shopwithscrip.com/ . Create a family account and place order. You must enter our Enrollment Code (one time only) (6C8C9FL922936) for First Methodist to get credit each time you shop in the future. Print the receipt and submit with a check to the offering plate, table in foyer, or church office by the first Sunday each month.
