Who We Are

Welcome to First United Methodist Church Carrollton! Our congregation is deeply rooted - we've been worshipping in Carrollton, Texas for over 110 years. But over the years, we have made intentional decisions to follow God as He does new things all around us, all the time.

We are a multigenerational church, and there's a place for everyone here. Some of us have been here for decades, but many of us have found a home here in the last couple of years. We celebrate our children and youth, and they fully participate in the life of the church. In our worship services, we love to sing together, pray for each other, and be encouraged by the word of God. While different demographics might prefer different styles, we value worshiping together more than dividing over personal preferences.

We have made a deliberate decision to worship in a contemporary way, while still cherishing and integrating the historic songs, confessions, and prayers of our faith. As United Methodists, we follow the calendar and liturgies of the Christian year. We celebrate Advent leading up to Christmas, and we journey through Lent and Holy Week before celebrating Easter. We focus on the major events that were important in Jesus' life, so that we can learn to be like Him and love God and people just as He did.

As United Methodists, we talk a lot about grace. We celebrate the ways God gives His grace to us and the ways we can extend His grace to others. We experience God's grace together as we celebrate Holy Communion, baptism, prayer, worship, and the study of the Scriptures. We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month, and it is always open to all who are seeking to know God.

We're passionate about missions and living out the gospel of Jesus Christ. We're committed to taking the good news of Jesus to places in the world where it's not, but we're also invested in our community. We are intentional about discipleship and helping each other grow in Christ.

We’ve established a Discipleship Pathway to guide us as a church and individuals. Whether you are just starting a relationship with God, or are experiencing a new aspect of faith, the first step is to engage and begin to learn what God wants to do in your life. As we move further into the process, we become established in the faith and prepare to shift from an inward focus to an outward perspective. We become equipped to go deeper in our journey and reach out to others, and we help empower each other to minister and reengage the process in a new way. As long as we live, there will always be areas in which we need to grow. No matter which stage of life you find yourself in, we’ll be here to walk alongside you in the journey.

We look forward to meeting you soon! If you have questions before you come, feel free to contact us at 469.568.1240 or email .
